Partyskirts FW 2013 Lookbook

image via SkotApparel.com

Girly girls love skirts. I can vouch for this tribe, since wearing a  circle/skater/party skirt gives me a big Sailor Moon personality punch.  I learned about Partyskirts through Fashionmagazine.com's Prom guide, (It was for work! I swear!) and saw their ultra adorable lookbook for spring 2013.  You don't have to be in high school to appreciate these minis. Made from dupioni silk, the skirts have an eye-catching sheen and strong structure.

Kenzo AW13 Lookbook

It's kind of ridiculous to be thinking of Fall the high heat of the summer, but here we are with Kenzo's deliciously surreal lookbook.  Creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim worked on their latest images with Maurizio Cattelan, Pierpaolo Ferrari and Micol Talso of Toilet Paper Magazine. The ads star actress Rinko Kikuchi and model Sean O’Pry. Click through for pictures of kittens in shoes...

The Bling Ring : Most disappointing movie of the summer

You know when you're really excited to see a movie, so much that, you get your friends amped up too? You talk about it forever, and when the time comes to see it, it doesn't hold up? I did this to my friend Lauren, and it was so embarrassing. As in, I'd look at her every time something "kind of" funny happened to gauge her reaction. At least the air conditioning was awesome.

My anticipation for the Bling Ring didn't ruin this movie for me, it ruined itself. All of the best parts were in the trailers. Maybe it's just what we're used to these days, quick editing and fast transitions with snappy, charming and witty characters. Unlike Coppola's earlier films that are heartbreaking and visually interesting, this movie was making me feel embarrassed for the characters.

I don't understand how it got 61% on Rotten Tomatoes. Are reporters afraid of Sofia Coppola? Really?

The only scene I enjoyed was the robbery of Audrina Patridge's house, which slow panned in while the two main thieves Rebecca and Marc whizzed around the glass cube of a house like a couple of rats in a maze.

Rachel Bilson and Mischa Barton both have protested this movie (which made me want to see it more), for "ethical" reasons, but they really should have just seen it and told us how bad it was going to be if they didn't want us to watch it.

I'm going to stick to sci- fi flicks for instant movie watching gratification. Pacific Rim is out, and their mindless monsters actually look interesting

Lily Lizards

If you were a little smarty pants this week, you would have seen that velociraptors had invaded Vogue.uk! Maybe they're promoting Jurassic Park 4? If you're familiar with the Konami code, you could get a little dino in a surprise chapeau whizzing by on your screen. Sadly, the're extinct from the internet, but have been preserved in screen shots for future generations. I'm not really a hat person, and I don't miss them pushing their style in my face.

I gave the old code a shot, and the best hat I could get was this little red Aretha Franklin type bow pillbox. My first go was a tan knit tuque (not worth a screen capture)!  Scroll down for more lily lizards Isabella Blow would be proud of:

Isabel Marant for H&M: She makes clothes that girls WANT to wear

photo via Isabel Marant's Instagram

I have yet to buy anything from H&M's designer collections. Maybe it's the hype, or the frenzy it strikes, but something about mass shopping crazes really puts me off shopping. I'd love to be able to find a piece that fits me that I wouldn't regret buying, but it just hasn't happened yet. I even shopped the sale racks for MMM x H&M, and despite availability, I wasn't tempted.  Hopefully, this next collaboration with Isabel Marant will be a real winner. If H&M could bring e-commerce to Canada in time for November, it would take so much stress out of shopping! The only stress you'd get would be from sweaty hands on your credit card.

The first look from the collection popped up today, and I'm feeling kinda "meh" on this tunic. Marant's not about wow factor though, she's more about sensual-chic. You wouldn't know it by her FacebookTwitter or Instagram pages but, Marant's got major influence in fashion at least at a retailer level. "She makes clothes that girls want to wear" said Style.com's Nicole Phelps.

Get down with Miu Miu FW2013

Directed by the always amazing Inez & Vinoodh, Miu Miu's most recent fashion film is BAD ASS. The models are getting down in polka-dots! Starring Adriana Lima, Anne Verhallen, Daphne Groeneveld, Emily Di Donato, Georgia May Jagger, Hind Sahli, Kaitlin Aas, Lindsey Wixson and Marina Nery. Into the beat? So am I, but it isn't "Hand Clapping Song" by The Meters, like they say it is at the end of the video.

I did a little internet sleuthing to see the song was by the meters. Apparently they probably had the models dancing to this song below while shooting, and re-edited it with new music. play the Miu Miu video on mute, and play this song below to see how it probably might have looked before the last minute edit. Personally, I like their original song better! I can't stop listening to it this morning, just boogyin' in my cubicle.

The Men Under The Influence...

Can I please wear this outfit?

I came across these photos by Jon Uriarte, who photographed men in their girlfriends/wives/partners clothing. My first reaction was to giggle, but the photo series is (to me, at least) explaining modern relationships.  I told my boyfriend about the photo series, to which he replied, "No way am I putting on your shoes". Pssh. He should be so lucky.
